In 1964 Jim Barry purchased 28ha of prime vineyard land in the Armagh district from Duncan McRae Wood. Shiraz was the first variety planted, and the McRae Wood property was the foundation of Barrys red wine production. Spicy aromas of sweet plum, blackberry, mint and liquorice compliment a generous multi-layered palate. Twelve months maturation in French and American oak enhances the ripe fruit characters and its velvety tannins add structure, ensuring a long elegant finish.
Excellent hue; luscious, ripe raspberry, cherry, plum and mint; seductive mouthfeel.
