Ornellaia Le Volte dell’Ornellaia 2020

This brooding blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon embodies Ornellaia’s philosophy with Mediterranean generosity, structure, and complexity. Winemaker Olga Fusari describes it as having a vinous bouquet showcasing ripe red fruits, Mediterranean scrub, tobacco, and spices. The palate offers a soft, silky texture balanced by lively acidity for a crisp, persistent finish. The 2020 growing season saw mild winters, warm springs with normal rainfall, and a long dry period until veraison in July, followed by welcome rains in August. Harvesting was swift to preserve freshness amidst a sudden heatwave. Fermentation and aging for 10 months in steel tanks and barriques culminated in a wine of balanced tannic structure and fresh fruit expression.
