Even before he got his license, in 1824, George Smith’s whisky, The Glenlivet, was famous. Pack horses struggled across the high, remote Glen of the Livet, where there were no roads at all in those days, to bring precious casks to the thirsty aristocrats of Edinburgh, and later to London and the world. The bottles in this case date from different years. Each comes from a different cask. These different whiskies demonstrate how The Glenlivet’s fundamental style shows itself in each year, through differing influences of time and the casks.
