Tyrrell’s Vat 9 Shiraz 2018

Vat 9 Shiraz originates from Tyrrell Estate’s ‘Ashmans’ parcels, featuring 50-year-old vines grown in red clay soils over limestone. Weinkeller and Short Flat contribute to the blend, with the Short Flat Vineyard’s Mathews and Contours blocks playing a vital role. The 2021 vintage benefited from breaking a generational drought, leading to exceptional growing conditions. Handpicked and matured in newer French oak casks. With vibrant purple hues, the wine offers a regal nose of lifted spice and dark fruits. Its medium-bodied palate showcases intense flavours and a velvety texture, displaying balanced fruit, acid, oak, and tannin. Awarded 94 points by both James Suckling and Gary Walsh, it presents juicy fruitiness, creamy tannins, and a savoury finish.
